Tang Wei, Isabelle Huppert, Solange. Just to name a few celebs who were out to support Clare Waight Keller, who is parting ways with Chloe after six years bringing the French fashion house back to the limelight, revitalising and invigorating it during her tenure. What better way for her to bid farewell than in the birth city of the brand, with last Thursday's Fall 2017 collection being a true tribute to the success that she brought to the brand.
"Psychedelic optimism" was the go to phrase that Clare went with and she spoke about her goal of providing a sense of escapism through fashion. "It's not political, but it's where people go when they feel a lot of what's going on in the culture now... They look for escapism". Clare's portrayal of this "Psychedelic optimism" sweet mini-dresses in starry lace or funky faces print, oversized faded stripe mohair sweaters, smocked blouses worn under pinafores, and many more retro styles. Clare's ability for creating an immense desire for accessories was definitely highlighted on the runway; the various looks called for T-strap Mary Janes with rounded toes or flat loafer, and spring's bracelet bag was upgraded into a larger, more rounded shape.
The designer definitely played a lot on her leaving the brand. With a history of upbeat music at the shows, she decided to keep the trend going, choosing a fitting leavers song: Human League's "Don't you want me.", at which we can say we definitely look forward to seeing who does after this spectacular showing at this Paris Fashion Week.
Paris Fashion Week continues until the 8th March, so we are definitely still in for more treats, let us know what you think about the fashion week, how it has gone so far and what you think of what is going to happen.
