When Gabrielle Chanel requested Ernest Beaux to produce "a woman's perfume with a woman's aroma," an uncommon and intense request in 1921, Beaux accepted the challenge. With her nose, she received a visionary composition that used aldehydes for the first time. This is the fifth sample of the scent, and Mademoiselle decided to call it N°5.
