Tokyo Fashion Week

Published by Leks on 25th Mar 2017

Tokyo fashion week; otherwise known as the distant twice removed cousin of NYFW or PFW due to the lack of artistry and extravagance often displayed in New York or Paris. This year however, Tokyo decided that they would make an attempt at shaking their bad reputation, moving from the dull and boring shopping malls it is often held at, the organisers decided to capitalise on the architectural wealth of the country.

One label had hundreds of guests coming through to a brand new running stadium, built in anticipation of the 2020 Olympics. This space provided the designers with what they had lacked for many years, a refreshing atmospheric backdrop to display their beautiful collections.

The common theme seen throughout the designs were loose minimalist looks for the professional woman, floral silks, electrifying blue leather.

In terms of the week as a whole, Tokyo as a whole was typically daring. Of course there were the more common Nike and Vans as shoes, but it wouldn't really be Tokyo without the wild platform shoes too.
